question about trading with the AI

I just completed a trade with the AI where I handed over some resources and tech in order to get a planet in a system in which I owned all the planets except one (so I want him out of there).

He accepted. But the planet he owns hasn't switched over to my control. What's going on?

If it's a simultaneous game, doesn't the next turn have to run? Otherwise, if "live" turns, things happen as you move your stuff, I'm not sure. You have to wait for someone other than me to find out.

Surely someone has an answer to this. It would certainly affect whether I'd bother to offer planets for trade. (Tech is fine--that seems to work.)

Hmmmm....

I forget how it plays out in a solo game vs the AI.

In a simultaneous game, it takes three turns:
1) The offer
2) The acceptance
3) Execution of the trade.

Assuming enough time has elapsed, you may want to check that each of the above was performed correctly.

For example, the offer may have been made for the wrong planet (unlikely as it sounds).

Or it was never accepted.

Could it have something to do with the fact I already owned some planets in that system? (I wanted to clear the AI out of the system entirely to get my borders properly sealed.)

I think that clean the AI ouf of your systems is the best way to deal with those cheaters! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
Really weird. Have you sent the file to MM? (Think you have not the savegame, right? Because the best way to fix the problem, would have been reload the game!!!).

Re: question about trading with the AI

I was having the same problem in my simultaneous game under se4 Version 1.78. I patched the game to Version 1.84 and continued playing the saved game. Now the AI (in this case a "human" player set to use all it's ministers -- this is a "team" battle of human (me and my allies) verses the computer team) has accepted a trade of specific planets for one planet of theirs. When they accepted the trade, my offered planets were now under their control, and his planet went to my control.
