Upgrading

I wish the Upgrade Facilities button on the main construction window was a little more friendly. Specifically, giving you options of which upgrades to take, and then whether you just want to upgrade queued faciltiies and/or existing.

Yeah, it could be more user friendly. But you can also --

Select the planets in the main window, and use the update button on the planets build queue.

Use the construction window upgrade button, than select select planets individually, put some on hold to save resources, move around the upgrade, delete it from the queue

But seriously, you just researched Miners II or Research III, with the exception of cost -- do you really not want them to all upgrade?

I made suggestion regarding queues and updates in the SEV wishlist. It's the reason for a lot of micromanagement IMHO.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">No offense, but I don't, in this case. Here's why. I have no problem upgrading to Miners II because they can be built in 1 turn. I do not want to wholesale upgrade to Research III because the upgrade button will upgrade all Research I and II facilities in the construction queues to Research III's which take 2 turns to build (on a planet without a spaceyard II or III). I prefer to build Research II's in a single turn then upgrade after the planet is full - you get more net research that way. This assumes unmodded build rates of 2000 M, 2000 O, 2000 R and unmodded costs of Miner & Research I, II, III as 1500 M, 2000 M, and 2500 M respectively.

So now you have to decide which is less cumbersome - either upgrading all then going back to edit the unfinished construction queues back to Research II's, or upgrading planet-by-planet. This is not so much a matter of how much micromanagement you prefer as it is a game interface limitation. This is a great example of an improvement area. I also have submitted a suggestion to MM on improving this.

Slick.

Re: Upgrading

Another example might be in a game where you are a long way along the research path and really dont need to upgrade old research centers as you have enough research points.
Another might be where you have research miners to 3 and have not yet researched rads 3, and you just want to upgrade miners without having all the rads 2 upgrades being created, knowing that you will research rads3 soon.
And the worst is when you hit the upgrade button by accident and have to spend 20 mins deleteing all the upgrades.
