Why storm doesn\'t damage every ship entering to the sector?

I made a test (in simultaneous game, of course). I had six storms in one sector, each inflicting 200 damage. I built 12 LCs, equiped only vechile control, engines, solar sail and quantum reactor. I put them in a long line so they moved to the storms by turns. The result was that five ships took no damage while seven ships destroyed. I made a new test, again five ships survived but not from the same positions than the previous survivors.

Anyone has a clue how storms actually work? Is it only 60% probability to take a damage?

Hmmm... I noticed something strange too a while back. I once built a frigate to explore the quadrant in PBW game. When I list all military alliances and couldn't refuel, I wanted to get rid of it, so I sent it to a local storm. It lost most components except life support and couple of engines. I sent it out and back, 'bout 5 times, but it was never damaged again.

Damaging storms and warppoints don't inflict damage on every ship that passes through.

There is some sort of random calculation to determine whether the ship gets damaged or not with one of the types of damaging abilities. What the calculation is is unknown. But, it is known that it is very quirky. Sometimes, you will not get damage for a long while from a WP, but as soon as one ship gets damage, every ship that goes through from that point on gets damaged.

also i believe that if a ship can resist certain amount of damage, i think through armor, it will never get damaged. the storms dont do that much damage either way. i think

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I still think that the armor will get damaged if the storm/warppoint is strong enough to overcome the hitpoints for the armor component on the ship. For the most part though, damaging warppoints and storms in the std game don't cause enough damage points to beat later armor.

I think they do, in the current Version, anyway. I had an organic empire with tons of organic armor which built lots of storms on warp points for defense. These ships frequently lost some organic armor to the storms as they entered.

Of course, this doesn't make sense in two ways:

1) Ships waiting inside a damaging storm probably should also be at risk, but aren't. I guess this could be explained by the ability to find some sort of "eye of the storm" though.

2) Organic armor is completely healed after every combat, and generally heals at a huge rate, but it doesn't get healed unless combat occurs. Go blockade an enemy planet for a turn with "don't get hurt" orders, and suddenly the organic armor heals up. Doesn't make much sense, although perhaps it has a gameplay argument or two in its favor.
