Re: Yet Another Hinnom Guide

As a sort of tangent to this, what do people recommend for weapons for thugs to use against giants, either Jotun or Hinnom type. The standard Fire/Frost brands don't seem as useful when there's only...

Re: Yet Another Hinnom Guide

I think the Protection listed in the wiki entries is natural Protection. Protection from armor is added to that (in a complicated fashion of course.) Probably the same with Defense. Shield and weapon...

Re: Behemoth?

It's actually called the "Hero's Blade". With CBM 1.6 you should be able to forge it. 2E. Two-handed weapon. Does extra damage to larger creatures.

Re: Behemoth?

Not necessarily useful, but the combat AI does try for maximum effect, usually by total damage done. Essentially it simulates the spell a few times, picks the target that did best and then rerolls...

Re: Turn rollback ramifications

That actually avoids the easy problems and ignores one of the others.
As others here have said the preferred way is to use the old files for as many players as possible to minimize the chance of...

Re: Turn rollback ramifications

Thirded. Don't do it.

If you really must, a couple of suggestions:
The llamaserver still has your old turns. Anyone who hasn't submitted a new turn since the problem one does not have to send...

Re: Diplomacy question

So how do you get rid of BoT or similar things that you just don't want up?
Do you just suffer with them?

Re: Diplomacy question

No. Casting a different global while the slots are full will try to overwrite one of the existing ones.

Dispel allows you to pick which one you want to kill.

There are a number of reasons you...

Re: Morale checks

Do commanders really break as often as they should, if they take moral checks every time they get injured? Thugs don't seem to break very often.

Looking closer, it's no more than one check per...

Re: Plane of Rusty nails (143+12, wraparound)

Couldn't you just set those inland lakes no start?

Re: Return of the raptors – Eat electric death!

Isn't that the other way around?

4 MR in vanilla and 14 in CBM. I don't have the game in front of me, so I can't check, but the dom3db lists them as 4mr.

Re: Llamaserver and patch 3.26

I'm dredging this out of the depths of my memory, so don't rely on it, but I think you may be right.

The new version will host with a turn from the old version. You will need to upgrade to open...

Re: Llamaserver and patch 3.26

Executor: I'm not sure that makes sense or there's something I'm missing.
If llamaserver hosts under 3.24, sends me a turn, then upgrades, I can open it under 3.24 and send out my turn.

There...

Re: If your an SP player let me know if....

While that's true on a per player basis, that largely effects rushing tactics. The length of the game and the amount of work/micromanagement needed in the endgame is largely driven by the actual...

Re: Battle display not matching the results in multiplay

Variations in mods can certainly cause a problem, but the problem exists without them and without variations in OS. I've never seen it change watching the battle again. Even days later.

Obviously...

Re: Battle display not matching the results in multiplay

That was the old diagnosis of the problem and I think that it was fixed or improved in an earlier patch. I can't find any mention in the progress list, but I do remember a change.

There is now...

Re: LA Game - World of Symmetry Send Pretenders

Since no one else has said anything, Marignon is our first casualty.

Re: Negative Damage - Noob question

I believe all the status effects stay. Even when it makes no sense. Machaka often winds up treating its former prophet's spider as a prophet for example. And a spider rider killed by poison will...

Re: EA Arco oreliads as thugs.

It doesn't help. If they have 100% LR already, they won't cast the spell, so you can't get to 175%+.
Though I'm not sure if a Ring with a script of Ironskin,Resist Lightning would work.
Usually,...

Re: That didn't work (AI)

Stellar Cascades is a great spell against SC and thugs and it's pretty good against relatively small numbers of elites or heavies, but it's useless against waves of chaff. Especially when you're...

Re: Province Defense: too powerful?

Plus the AI uses PD strength as one of the gauges for attacking in the first place. So high PD will help let you choose your enemies while low PD means you're likely to be at war with every AI you...

Re: Bug Thread: Discussion

I haven't tested this, but it shouldn't matter where you hire him. Once you're rehiring him, he'll just stay where he is, no matter where you pay the bill.

So if you're given the option to bid on...

Re: EA Arco oreliads as thugs.

One problem with Oreiads is they're sacred but not priests. If you're relying on a bless you'll have to send some one along with them, probably on Bless/Bless/retreat. This raises logistical issues....

Re: Province Defense: too powerful?

This is a common impression among beginners. Huge amounts of PD can be very effective against the AI, but there are more effective tactics even there and PD is at best situationally useful in MP.

Re: Garrison + PD Question

Sufficient isn't necessary. Having any leadership of the right type (normal/magic/undead) is enough to keep any amount of those troops on the field.
