Re: 32 Battalion SADF
Orbats are not really my thing unless I happen to come across one in my reading.
32 Battalion's changed a lot over the years but ended up at a battalion HQ, seven rifle companies, one recce...

Re: The Tank is dead
Like other Western nations UK has Special Forces operating in the Middle East, rather than infantry, as well as air forces.
UK plays a major role in NATO, although for my money I hope that does...

Re: The Tank is dead
Desert Warrior mounts a different turret with a 25mm gun. The British Army is upgrading to Warrior 2000 with a good 40mm gun, granted if it was affordable and could be fitted on Warrior 2000 Tow...

Re: The Tank is dead
It really comes down to - "Are they APCs or IFVs?"
If you try to make every vehicle an IFV of course you're going to have mass and firepower issues. The only time the USMC had an IFV was late WW...

Re: The Next World War
Firstly, as the gentleman at the top say, this is a game, not a simulation. Wargames suffer from this view thing, this game perhaps less than many others.
Secondly, since at least the early 1980's...

Re: The Tank is dead
Agree with everything you say. Two things I have heard current British Army types most wanting (besides a pay raise) is some sort of area SAM and some sort of ATGM under armour to support Warrior,...

Actually, in a heavily EW degraded environment units just fall back on the old tactics of marching towards the sounds of the guns. Warfare 1862 style with assault rifles.[/QUOTE]
I suspect, at...

Re: The Next World War
It is not traditional EW jamming as such. The trick is a hack into the network, not jam it.
In 2009 the US established a cyber command, we already have EW schools in the services, so why a cyber...

I strongly suspect Suhiir is right about this stuff.

Re: Acceptable US Casualties Against 3rd World Armies
One reason I was trying to avoid using the term 'peer'. We were using it it in game terms, for a well equipped battle group.
Obviously Strategic lift (air or sea) does not really fit into the game...

Also bear in mind these days you are likely to...

Re: MBT's
In the British Army Challanger 2 MBT's carry 2 x 5 smoke grenade launchers and Warrior IFV's, at the moment, 2 x 4 smoke grenade launchers. The new Ajax scout carries 2 x 8.

Rhodesian Army infantry 1965-80
