Re: Your greatest victory and worst defeat

The bulldozers would have been immobilized crushing the buildings, woulnd't they?

The real reason I lost was because I was overconfident. I didn't think that your guys would put up much of a...

Re: LOS aid

Yes, there should at least be some code in there telling to hunt for high ground. Also, it should check the terrain around it and see if it offers any advantage. For example, if two human units are...

Re: LOS aid

Not really realistic. A big part of a real commander's job is positioning his units where he thinks they will have the best view. I think that the game should be kept the way it is, because most...

Re: Can the AI remount previously dismounted troop

How about you just have them retreat out of LOS of the front line or 20 hexes, whichever is greater? 20 hexes is only 1000 meters, which is usually enough but sometimes you have a very large open...

How do you change the battle start line?

How do you change the start line for each side in the editor? I'm making a scenario and can't find out how.

Re: U.S. Special Forces

There are a lot of commando raids and infantry assaults in the game. In fact, they probably make up most of the battles. Soldiers are also good for anti-tank because of the cost of modern MBTs (a 500...

Re: A0 Jeep

I just don't need the A0 commander very much. So what, he helps with rallying, but that's it. In a campaign, I keep him off-map or in a very safe place (like under heavy armor), being the cowardly...

Re: U.S. Special Forces

If you need special forces, just by SEALs because they'll have pretty much the same specs as Green Berets or Delta. Armament for Delta and Green Beret teams is pretty unstandardized, so you shouldn't...

Re: A0 Jeep

In campaign games, I usually retreat the AO off-map because it has soo little firepower and if you loose it you loose the campaign. But in single-player, I treat it as just another infantry unit....

Re: MapQuest

Steel Panthers III had a very good Bundswehr campaign against the Soviets. Too many people are obsessed with the American point of view in the Cold War- the West Germans had a major contribution to...

Re: A view from the other side-Battle of Wadi Al-B

Well, at least it dosen't hurt in this scenario. You never noticed that?

Re: New unit class- Counterbattery radar

Well, I guess you're right. Even if you have one counterbattery radar you'll spot all the artillery fire on the map, so we can just assume that they're somwhere offmap.

New unit class- Counterbattery radar

Considering how many cool new unit classes have been added into WinSPMBT that weren't in SP2 (like mule transports, spotter planes, grounded planes, paratroops, bulldozers, various types of ammo...

Re: A view from the other side-Battle of Wadi Al-B

The attachment at the first post has been updated. All I did was dig in the Iraqi tanks (I'm not sure, but they were likely in sand berms) and I also placed all V-hexes on the map. Also, the...

Re: The Greco-Turkish War

I actually didn't notice any command problems. Dosen't matter, though, because I never pay attention to unit integrity and always intermingle my units out across the map. Not realistic at all, but it...

Re: Any news?

How many people work on WinSPMBT and SPWW2? Is it just Don and Andy working on two whole games?

Re: A view from the other side-Battle of Wadi Al-B

Well, I made it in about 30 minutes so I'm not surprised if it isn't perfect. The game (M1 Tank Platoon II) I based this on gave a good map and OOB for each side, but I have no way to check whether...

The Greco-Turkish War

This is based on the Balkans 2008 campaign that comes with the game. It's very interesting how most of the maps are huge (160X200) and becomes almost a strategic "theater command" battle. I was...

Re: Enemy locations beyond LOS

Did you do any airstrikes on the first turn, or was there any preplanned artillery fire at all? Airplanes might have spotted the dump, and a bug with the artillery fire routine might have uncovered...

Re: Battle-location bug?

February is a snowy month anyway, so you could just pretend you were fighting Mujahideen in Afghanistan's mountains. That's all I can help you with.

Re: A view from the other side-Battle of Wadi Al-B

Come on, I know it might not be the most interesting scenario in the game, but taking artistic license comes at the cost of historical accuracy. The battle only lasts 10 turns, and the real encounter...

Re: CARIBBEAN CRISIS - NOW AVAILABLE!

The campaign was pretty easy. I picked Special Ops and got a DV on the first battle, a DV on the second and third (after two tries each, there's a steep learning curve), and I got a DV on the last...

A view from the other side-Battle of Wadi Al-Batin

The Battle of Wadi Al-Batin ("Fright Night") (not to be confused with the 1st Cav probing action a few days earlier, already a scenario in the game) was the closest Iraq came to winning a battle in...
