Re: Microsoft VISTA

Well as our other topics go off on wild tangents with regular topic changes, why shouldn't this one?

You do learn something but, as you say, rarely change an opinion....

Re: Support That Is Based Outside Of USA

Indeed. I have no problem with heights, but falls terrify me.

Re: Microsoft VISTA

That was quite the most confused post I've ever seen, I wasn't entirely sure which aircraft you were talking about. Several in one confused mess I think. But frankly as it ranged across several...

Re: Support That Is Based Outside Of USA

I wasn't saying it was the heat, just that the cooling heat sinks you put into the block weaken the structure. The materials fine, but the structure is weakened by lots of holes in it. Plastics...

Re: Microsoft VISTA

First off TSR-2 was aviation grade ally-copper alloy, not titanium. No problem there.

As for the costs, you've paid the development costs, so the choice for TSR-2 was, build it or go F-111. As it...

Re: Support That Is Based Outside Of USA

Well you learn something every day, I was wondering how you'd do such a thing. As I understand what you said, and if I've got this right, their problem is actually still the heat.

That heat sink...

Re: Support That Is Based Outside Of USA

Take a closer look at cars. Look at the Honda Element, for example. OR the Aztec. You'll find about 25% of the body is plastic. Honda will be producing a plastic/synthetic block for their new Si...

Re: Support That Is Based Outside Of USA

Oh of course you try, I wasn't saying you don't. And of course you try to over estimate the costs, that's bleedin' obvious. But it can't be done with any pretence of accuracy. You can't predict all...

Re: Support That Is Based Outside Of USA

The problem is, El_Phil, as a consumer/customer, I generally have NO say-so in what I get. Though I used Dell as an example of a company who supplies support from inside/outside the US, in many...

Re: Support That Is Based Outside Of USA

Yep. That would be perfect, as I don't use tech support. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

And hopefully some of the money saved might go into cheaper parts, not all of it of...

Re: Microsoft VISTA

Wouldn't have been as fast the Lightning :p And that was a design prototype not the production model.

Still the Lightning was an achingly fast plane, by any standards. Some of the stuff that plane...

Re: Semi-OT: A question on Power Ratios in Sci-fi

I was going to suggest url=http://www.schlockmercenary.com/d/20040308.html]This[/url] as decent on ships drives and silly accel, and why you need compensation.

Then I realised that the entire...

I vaugley remember 240 being significant in troops numbers. Something about being able to...

Re: Support That Is Based Outside Of USA

Dell has been cutting it's tech support viciously for the last few years. You want cheap? Head to India. There you get computer science graduates working for tuppence ha-penny (thats a couple of...

The effects of this are incalcuable, but all for the good. No...

Re: Gmail sneaking out?

No google is just like any other company, they just have a false halo. If you've ever read, just off the top of my head, any MS EULA that's far more un-nerving.
