If it has plenty of armoured formations, it usually retains a platoon or 2 in reserve that come on map later. Not always, though.

UKR T64 have CIWS systems, and IIRC these make an MG or cannon-like sound when they are fired - so that may be the case here. I'll have a look into it, but that is what I suspect is happening here.
