Re: Map request Kohima 1944

Had a go at the map maker you gentlemen mention and it does seem to cope with the heights and contours. However I still don't think I am up to doing the roads, buildings and other terrain...

Re: Jets & Planes but no UAV's here.

True in terms of size, but BAE gave a really crazily high quote to fit them with EMALS cats and traps, so they have a ski-jump and can only really operate F35B as a fixed wing aircraft (at least...

Re: Jets & Planes but no UAV's here.

The problem is that for whatever reason (presumably economic) the RN isn't building/operating any full size fleet carriers. When all you've got is what are essentially escort carriers with a small...

Re: Jets & Planes but no UAV's here.

Fair enough for the US but in the British Royal Navy F35B will have to do fleet air defence, since it will be the Fleet Air Arms only fast jet. Certainly sometimes the fleet can use land based air...

Re: Jets & Planes but no UAV's here.

Except on any military board you care to name -let alone any air force board F35 is the greatest thing since sliced bread... Why?

Re: Jets & Planes but no UAV's here.

I note that not everyone likes F35 on here. Understandably enough given its cost, delays, etc.

I used to be a critic of it myself, especially the STOVL F35B for the Royal Navy, being a supporter...

Re: Map request Kohima 1944

Thank you gentlemen. I remain unconvinced my SPWW2 map making skills are up to this.

I did try it a year or two ago, 'freehand' but the results were too much like a dogs breakfast. Hence my...

Re: A Pinniped Sea Mammal

Dads Army remains a very funny show about a Great Britain that is almost nothing like the place today, sadly, although when I was a small boy in the 1960's and 70's the characters still made sense.

Re: Fairey Firefly Carrier borne Fighter Bomber

PS
My understanding is, that as a Naval Carrier aircraft it cannot go under normal fighter-bomber/strike aircraft, just like the FAA version of the Corsair.

Actually ground attack, including with rockets, as a fighter-bomber was exactly what it was used for

Re: Jets & Planes but no UAV's here.

I am confused by this -probably my fault- all I hear from the RAF types is making Typhoon a better Fighter Bomber, since she is already a good air superiority fighter (Indeed the RAF got some flak...

Fairey Firefly Carrier borne Fighter Bomber

The Fairy Firefly saw extensive service from WWII until after the Korean War with the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm (and the Royal Australian Navy post WWII).

Operational from 1943, it was used in...

Kangaroo APC's

I noticed -from information that FASTBOAT TOUGH put up- That Kangaroo APC's were in action with Canadian forces from early August 1944, rather than October as noted in SPWW2. M7 Priest Kangaroos seem...

Re: WinSP MBT: Das Reich

I have been thinking about this and I wonder if the Western Allies would have used an A Bomb on Nazi Germany all that easily, unless they thought Germany was at all close to developing her own -when...

Re: WinSP:Civil War - 19th Century mod for WinSPWW2

Like this idea, although my favoured era would be Crimea 1854-56 with Britain, France, Turkey and Sardinia Fighting Russia.

Re: WinSP MBT: Das Reich

The problem I can see with this, if you will forgive me, is if you allow almost every German Prototype, let alone drawing board idea, to become a real weapons system, then you have to do more or...
