Also, since this is an open ended game you will eventually run out of stuff to research. You could never add enough unique or original items to keep you researching until turn 10,000

Increasing the cost/build time of the reesearch facility could help to. I'm a research nut. If the building took 2 turns to make instead of 1 the pace of research would slow.

I think you have to create an new platform and jettison the old one if you need the room.
Seems odd that you can't, maybe it's because they don't need a spaceyard to be built.

If you live near the ship from point choose regular UPS. I think my copy shipped out of North Carolina. Got my copy in Maryland in 2 days. It will fit in a mailbox, no game box.

My favorite mix is 120% in research, 120% construction and either the merchant trait or the faster building trait. This is easily done with 2000 point with a few left over.
