Fear?

How exactly do your various Fear/moral check causing spells (like Terror or Panic) work? I swear, I've never seen any unit rout because of them.

In the manual, it says that units rout as entire...

Desertion

Anyone know exactly how this works? Say you suffer some catastrophic hit to income (Perpetual Storm, Utterdark, nasty ritual spam, etc.). Who's going to leave, and how soon? Are commanders immune...

Re: Researching vs Site Searching

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Just to push things a little further, here's a scenario to consider:

You have 10 mages with N2 and 20 nature gems in your inventory (or 10 mages with D1 and 30...

Summoning vs Forging

A month or so back, I asked folks' opinions on whether they'd rather use their gems to summon more immediate combat support, or call down nasty ritual spells upon their enemies, and I learned quite a...

Re: Researching vs Site Searching

Oops, I should have prefaced that - I'm mostly interested in how people would play this out in MP. Thanks.

Researching vs Site Searching

I was just wondering what most people's priorities are in this regard, and why?

Does every mage you buy, barring an immediate war calling them to duty, go straight to research, or do once you pop...

Re: Stupid Stealth Question

The folks I play with tend to favor high PD, so raiding with a stealth army is very risky, unless you have outstanding stealth troops (some kind of glamour boys, probably).

I'm just trying to...

Re: another bump

Whadda you mean, there's no place for it?

The Plains Indians had horses for generations before they had access to guns, or had much, if any, contact with white men (so middle age is no problem).

Re: OT: Politics

What's the point of starting up something like this? Seems it's just gonna make folks angry for no good reason.

I mean, we've all got cultural differences, but I doubt a political thread in a...

Re: another bump

Perhaps you have an idea there, HoneyBadger:

An Early Era, totally pre-Columbian North American civilization, a Mid Era, 'we've got horses now' plains civilization, and that sort of 'Last of the...

Re: Stupid Stealth Question

Thanks, johnarryn! You said, "Before the patch..." though. Has something changed since then?

Ulm was definitely one of those nations with decent stealth units that I was thinking of. Very good...

Stupid Stealth Question

I'm hoping for a quick answer - can enemy scouts/spies detect stealthy units, with a "hide" order (including stealth units under their command), in your own territory?

I'm just thinking about the...

Re: Ideas neeeded for some Epic Heroes

That's what I get for not visiting the mod forum - it's likely been thought of already (I'd just assumed the elephants = Hellenistic, Seleucid "Greece").

Still like the Kappa Commander though...

Re: Wish-List for Dominions 4

Has anyone mentioned naval battles yet? It would definitely require a new dimension (literally).

Re: Ideas neeeded for some Epic Heroes

I think if we're talking Arco heroes, you should be looking at Greek mythology for EA heroes (yep, should be easy).

Then classical historical figures for MA (hmm, how would you render Pericles in...

Re: Default National Heroes

Thanks for the information and quick reply, Edi!

Yeah, a good many heroes in the standard game are 'bleh'. For example, I recently spotted that demon-hero of Yomi with regeneration. Of two. On...

Default National Heroes

Since the topic of heroes just came up, I was wondering if there was some kind of list or details available for the national heroes in the default game. Perhaps something like one of Edi's cool...

Re: Basic Multiplayer tips wanted

Here's a basic tip for early game SP or MP:

Keep at least one commander (an indie is fine) behind your army(s) of expansion. If you do suffer some sort of setback (I've often captured a province,...

Re: Basic Multiplayer tips wanted

Does this generally work? I like using decoy units myself, by I often find the battle AI ignores groups of less than five (meaning, they don't seem to shoot at that lone infantryman out in front,...

Re: Do priests ever level up?

Maybe priests should be able to empower, using astral gems perhaps? Maybe at a different (meaning more expensive) cost than magical empowerment? Just a thought...

Re: Hidden in Snow

Any more experiences to report with this spell (the Unfrozen one, not the Sea Troll one)? Do heat/cold scales and/or season effect it? If so, in which way? Anything else anyone has noticed?

Re: Reanimation Question

I'd consider recruiting ghouls instead of long dead in low-end provinces (say, with incomes of less than 20). Any loss in income over time will be insignificant compared to the number of "higher...

Re: Rating PD

What's really horrible about Caelum's PD is how the flyers immediately get shot down by their own archers - a problem with any mixed archer/infantry PD, but with them, you don't even get one or two...
