Re: Objective Flag Values

Flags Can be stacked. You can put several (the most I have ever done was 4, for 1,000 point, so I don't know if there is a limit on how many flags can be stacked in a single hex). I di several of...

Re: Scouting/Recon

For the record, I loath both SP3 AND W@W. It's that spidy sense and the Rambo crews. I did like the Special ops infiltration and the Engineers being able to place 'booby traps' or IED during the...

Re: Opinnion on PBEM Campaign Game

I'm on game 3 of my first campaign battle. It is different. I got the advantage in the first game and hurt my opponent bad, but came up short of the victory. So in the second battle, I got out...

Re: Scouting/Recon

Ok, I did;
"What is WinSPMBT"

WinSPMBT (Windows, Steel Panther, Main Battle Tank) is a Post WWII combined arms tactical level wargame.

Its time frame covers 1946 to 2020 AD. WinSPMBT has 92...

Re: Scouting/Recon

"That's a very good point. One thing that I've noticed is scenarios in WinSPMBT tend to be shorter than WinSPWW2. As such, I use scouts to cover flanks more than anything."

I have always wondered...

Re: Scouting/Recon

Imp, Rommel recommends 200 meters between the point and his support, with the main body another 200 meters behind that. That is assuming you have the visibility to keep the point in sight. I will...

Re: Scouting/Recon

Jeeps, like armored cars, scout cars, etc have crews. I assume that the crew of a scout vehicle has been trained on observations techniques and has practiced those techniques until they are better...

Re: Realism settings

VYRago, you might want to see if the Blitz (google blitzkrieg wargaming)still has a mentor program. It really helps to play a couple of games for 'funsies' against an old pro. One that will explain...

Re: Scouting/Recon

Here is the source of the confusion. WinSPWW2/WinSPMBT, scouts have no extra spotting ability or ability to stay hidden (aside from that inherit with being a size 0 unit). In SPWaW, a similar...

Re: Scouting/Recon

Imp, as we say in America, "Your mileage may vary". That comes from the EPA estimate on the Monroney sticker of a new vehicle.
I can't think of anything in SP that works every time, all the time....

Re: Scouting/Recon

In the original SP, Vehicles of the class scout DID get a searching bonus.
They searched at the same percentage as Infantry instead of as vehicles.
I don't know if that was changed. Everybody says...

Re: inf assault

Suhair, I have yet to meet a pilot of anything that didn't think they were the best.....ever....period. So gathering data will be a challenge. IIRC, pilots in squadron are rated by hours. Not sure...

Re: inf assault

I haven't played around much with the new range features. I should, since seems to be less risky then redlining. Ever now and then redlining will bite you in the butt. I'm real interested in what...

Re: inf assault

"My reasoning is very simple. The "best" helo pilots are the ones that fly the attack helos, "average" pilots fly transports."

Maybe. I think that depends on what you mean by best. My Son and a...

Re: inf assault

AFAIK, helios don't see things ( observe, search) as well as leg units. Sort of between a ground vehicle and a leg unit. Or at least that is the way the original SP2 worked. Not sure if that was...

Re: inf assault

No silver bullets Lt. Ketch. What works in one game won't in the next. I can even say what worked last turn might not work this turn.
If you want a 'rule of thumb', Overwatch. Try to put higher...

'm not going to wade through all this dreck to figure out where this came from so just tell me who is suggesting that experience and morale "affects the ratings of the front hull armor"

Actually, those were my Rangers and there was two units in that hex, a Ranger squad and a Law team. If, of course, we are talking about the same firefight. IIRC, both were pinned and made their...

Re: Fog of war

I seem to remember reading that the more units in a hex, the greater the chance of ONE of them getting hit by shell fragments. Also you can damage your own unit by same hex combat with grenades,...

Re: the best ways to use US Army against Russia

So say M60 was not new tank when it came?
No Mark, the M-60 was an upgrade of the M-48, which was an upgrade of the M-47, which was an upgrade of the T-26 (M-26 Patton) which was a clean sheet...

Re: the best ways to use US Army against Russia

I don't think that is correct. The M1 came after my time, but IIRC, the fuel tank is amidships, between the turet backet and the engine compartment. Co-formal, I think, so the turret basket sort of...

Re: Fog of war

I agree with Cross and use the 'hovering' arty EVERY game.
I was thrown off the Blitz for proving Weasel to be wrong on this issue.
My theory is that if it is a technique (AKA tactic or trick) used...
