I'm a dope. I never used it AGAINST my enemies. Renaming helps with immersion and makes one care about one's minions.

I would never expect my enemies to use offensive nomenclature to upset me...

It's gardening vrs comercial farming in my opinion. I will drive further and pay more at a farmer's market for a fruit grown with care by an orchardist or small farmer.

I have taken to using a mage's name to categorize them based on role. Do you guys do this?

For example:

I understand your position better now. What about somthing even simpler, just a tendancy for certian troop types to move as a group and a +1 bonus to defence for any unit with like units...

I liked King of Dragon Pass, but the full game seemed repetitive to me. The feeling of tribal membership that game gave was wonderful.

I missed about 100 hours of university classes playing...

I could see the option giving the game more depth, but I can't imagine a MOM-like player controlled battle with 150 units running I go, You go.

I'll let Illwinter give the "real" answer but I don't think it would feasible to manage a multiplayer game in any realistic time frame this way.
