Re: A Crazy Idea!

Thank you Imp :D

Annobon is only 17.5 kilometers in area. It's 6.4 kilometers, by 3.2 kilometers. So 7 x 3.5 or 140 by 70 hexes map should cover it. I think you meant Bioko, and here you are...

Re: The ORBAT of the 2008 South Ossetia War

According to the Moscow Defense Brief, http://www.mdb.cast.ru/mdb/3-2008/item3/article1/ "The attack on South Ossetia was not spontaneous. Over the course of several days in early August, the...

Re: Excellent article on Afghanistan

Once again, that was during the first two months of it being established. In the end, Leningrad had a population of 640,000, that were supplied. In addition, you have to keep in mind that the Red...

Re: Excellent article on Afghanistan

As I have mentioned a couple of times, and people choose to ignore me lol, the problem was that since the population was hostile and impossible to switch over for more than a temp time, the soviets...

Re: Excellent article on Afghanistan

In the Leningrad Case I was referring to the Road of Life. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Road_of_Life If the Red Army could have done that, over treacherous ice, under severe Nazi bombardment, than...

Re: Excellent article on Afghanistan

Then you improve to road network. If the Red Army could deliver supplies to Leningrad, you can be damn sure they can deliver supplies to Kabul. You also coordinate with allies, improve overall...

Re: Excellent article on Afghanistan

The quote was from more of a documentary, than an actual movie type thing, I should have clarified that earlier. From what I gathered, the people were conscripted, and out of those conscripted some...

World Re: Excellent article on Afghanistan

The last article is truly a must read. Thank you :D Also, I remember someone here talking about Soviets not having NCOs, or something like that: "Andrei: Typically 22 people or somewhere around...

Re: Excellent article on Afghanistan

1. My point is this: you have to understand the difference between military historians writing articles and politicians writing articles, and treat them as such. You have to know the purpose behind...

Re: Excellent article on Afghanistan

The volunteer quote comes from a Russian movie about the Afghanistan War. Also, I'd like to point out that even if said movie is incorrect, the Red Army never had more than 10 percent in Afghanistan....

Re: Excellent article on Afghanistan

Also, I'd like to point out that the Red Army did very well against Japan, and not only at Lake Khasan and Khalkin Gol, but also during the Invasion of Manchuria, where in a matter of weeks the Red...

Re: Excellent article on Afghanistan

While the Red Army had no official NCO corps, I think you will find this true story interesting, it comes from "My Just War" by Gabe Temkin, who was a Polish Jew fighting in the Red Army, and who...

Re: Anybody else make silly mistakes

I like sniper teams. I like to place two snipers in a single hex, but sometimes I click, and the sniper does anything to avoid buddying up with his fellow sniper. Into the road he goes, and I grumble...

Re: Excellent article on Afghanistan

More like a horrendous article that cannot get its facts straight:

"One could not have designed a military less well-prepared to deal with such a conflict than the Red Army of 1979. The Soviet...

Re: The ORBAT of the 2008 South Ossetia War

The 135th Rifle Regiment is part of the 58th Army. I'm sorry, I should've mentioned that earlier. Here's the map of the 58th Army: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:58th_Army_(Russia).png I'll get...

The ORBAT of the 2008 South Ossetia War

But isn't it called the Russo-Georgian War? Nope. Wars are named either for location, or in agressor-defender format, and Russia didn't fire the first shot. 2008 South Ossetia War is what Wikipedia...

Re: Ideas on Improving Russian ORBAT (Infantry)

No, it didn't strike at two bases. The strike against a tank base was where a tank was hit. Both strikes were at the same base, hitting a tank, and an ammo depot. It can hit moving targets, if the...

Re: Ideas on Improving Russian ORBAT (Infantry)

I like this idea :D

It is intended for certain, very specific scenarios. It shouldn't be general use, at least not until more data comes out on how it's used. To my knowledge, the 2008 South...
