Re: Jets & Planes but no UAV's here.

Yeah, I've been looking for exact information on loadouts and payloads vs range and practicality for all manners of aircraft for forever now, but hard information is extermely rare. I've found that...

Re: Jets & Planes but no UAV's here.

Oh, I've been meaning to ask for a while now, but keep forgetting to do so. Are we going to integrate the US Small Diameter Bomb series? The GBU-39 has been in service for a while now. It'd mean a...

ERA and large warheads

I've played several matches now where ERA tiles on a tank were able to defeat large, air-launched munitions. Mavericks and Hellfires, sure, but also the big laser-guided bombs. I think the silliest...

Re: French OOB

Speaking of the French OBAT, check their rifle-grenades--I think it was either weapon 29, the APAV 40, or weapon 34, the AC 58. (Apologies for not being able to narrow it down more: I edited my files...

Re: German OOB 16: minor corrections

Orbat 16 weapon 10, the sPzB41/61, is modeled with a high HEK value consistent with autocannon. This is the squeezebore 28mm light cannon. The problem is, all sources I can find indicate that it was...

Re: Atgm

Tank-laid smoke. Most tanks carry a fair number of smoke shells; they're not just there for decoration. A platoon of tanks can lay down a smokescreen much faster than your artillery can respond.

Re: An idea about hull down position.

Yeah, I remember reading that in the Mobhack manual, but it's not mentioned in the main manual. Perhaps it would help if the hull-down feature were also mentioned there? I seem to recall a few other...

Re: Soviet/Russian BMP-2 discrepancies

Given the great reduction in weight, I'd say it's worth replacing the ground-mounted weapons by bumping up their movement from 4 to 5. Precedent would be the LW50MG unit for the US orbats: the new...

Re: HMG penetration

Okay. I've run a few field-tests with the HMGs at close range, using vehicle AAMGs and tripod-mounted M2 Brownings and NSV machine guns. The results showed that it was a crapshoot if they would...

Re: USA and USMC Common Issues

All right. All good points; I'm glad to at least be provoking a discussion. Did the US Army press the M60 into the squad role, at least? I got the impression that it did.

As for the...

Re: USA and USMC Common Issues

I can't find any information that the Army bought off on DAGR, which is why I provisionally marked all the precision-rocket systems as APKWS, which is in testing. I understand the rationale behind...

USA and USMC Common Issues

As noted, here are some issues I'd like to discuss regarding the TO&E. Obats and numbers will be in bold when possible. I'll focus on issues common to the US and USMC obats, since it'd be impractical...

Re: Old RPG problem

Nice to know; also, it's nice to get further confirmation about the Energa's unpopularity.

I'll start out with a list of issues common to the USA and USMC, then. Look for the new thread.

Old RPG problem

Relatively quick issue: I've found a couple of infantry units that still have a mixture of HE and AP shells for their antitank weapons, when they should be using all AP. These are...

HMG penetration

I'm happy to hear about the buffs applied to HMG penetration figures within 300m; that said, the numbers don't appear to be reflected in MBT_APCalc, which still thinks the HE penetration is a...

Re: 40mm Grenade Launchers

Also, the South African MGL-1 (OBAT 52, weapon 124) had something silly for accuracy--it may have been as high as 6 or 8. I'm not sure because I edited mine down to match the rest of the GLs.

Re: APC Development and related topics.

Thanks for the information! It's nice to find a clearinghouse for the news from the defense industry.

I'd like to bring up some issues with the Russian APCs and IFVs in their OBAT, which is...
