Re: Oooh, Nifty.

Any plan to have a developer's handbook so we can easily go about our heart's content modding this after we master the orginal setting?

Re: Creating .x objects

If you're on a budget and want a fairly easy learning curve, you might want to try DoGA CGA as a designer and Metasequoia LE as the model tweaking tool.

I recently wrote up a three part tutorial...

Don't forget to tune in an hour earlier Friday because Sci-Fi will be showing Firefly. Man, talk about 4 hours of good television.

Re: Using Doga models in SE5/Starfury

I'm going to try and have daily updates of my DoGA\Meta tutorial as I write it. You can find the links in the tutorial section of my DoGA support page at httP://zircher.iwarp.com/doga . When the...

Re: Metasequoia Model

Nice job on the textures, it really helps you to get the most bang for your polygon budget. Is the engine glow a texture or a rendering special effect?

Re: Using Doga models in SE5/Starfury

Given time, I'll see about writing up a Meta tutorial. It's something that I've wanted to do. But, I would deliberately make it only for Metasequoia LE r2.1. It's very accessible and does not...

Re: Using Doga models in SE5/Starfury

It's all a matter of patience. You just need to know how to select points, weld them together, select faces so you can hide them and then delete the stuff that's hidden. Really just a bunch of...

Re: Using Doga models in SE5/Starfury

Plan B: If Blender does not work for you or it adds too many polygons during the boolean union/CSG process, you can always export the DoGA model as a SUF file, read that into Metasequoia LE, clean...

Re: Homeworld Source Code!?!?

I didn't see any classes, so I'm going to say that it is plain jane C code that is crippled just enough to be unusable until you replace all the commercial libraries that Relic used but could not...

What I love about epIII is how they tied some many threads together and answered little questions (Like why is Darth Vader is taller than Aniken Skywalker. Or, how the emperor...

Re: GeForce Or Radeon

What's your budget? For under $100 US, you can get a FX 5700 LE with 128 mb of memory. What's important to look at is also what version of DirectX and OpenGL are supported, which pixel and vertex...

Re: Interested in a Homeworld Mod?

You're welcome. Actually, I did have a very good reason to ask. I wanted to export the actual ship models from the HW series to SEV V when it was released. The technology exists, but I wanted to...

Re: Interested in a Homeworld Mod?

Hmmm, don't shoot the messenger, but here's the result of my quest to get something official ruled on concerning the mod. It you don't like the answer, you can always shoot Akula for asking the...

I'm curious to see what you're internal organs look like. Please don't be pissed if I chop you up into a steaming pile of flesh with your rib cage poking into the night sky like a silent cathedral. ...

Re: OT: Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Whatever Quotes

O'Neil's "It's what I do", quote is a signature move for that character. :-)

After jerking Baal's chain...
Aide: "Do you think it is wise to provoke him?"
Jack: "It's what I do."

And a couple...

To continue... I got pointed to a VUGames forum admin and I'm now coresponding with him on the subject as I work my way up the food chain. Of course, at some point they might tell us to stop all...

Re: New Screenshots are *sick!!!*

The DirectX material template supports both kinds. Most modeller prefer textures and UV coordinates since they can add more detail to thir model without adding extra polygons. When you use colored...

Re: Interested in a Homeworld Mod?

Fair enough, paranoia has its place. Does anyone want to try their hand at writing up a letter and contacting Relic and/or their parent company for permission? Of course, since Relic was bought by...

Re: Interested in a Homeworld Mod?

Technically, based on the license you have to agree to in order to install Homeworld, you already have permission for personal use. Distribution is another animal. But, I would not worry unless...

Re: Interested in a Homeworld Mod?

Akula, the copyrights are in still in place. This would be a fan mod and for personal use only. So, it would never see the inside of a CD, it should never be sold for profit, and it wouldn't hurt...

Re: Interested in a Homeworld Mod?

Yeah, I'm rather pleased with myself. Not only can people export the models from HW and render them into ship sets. You can in theory export those models and textures to SE V when it is released. ...

Re: Interested in a Homeworld Mod?

Good links, I did get WinBig to compile so I'm playing with that. When I get HW2, I'll definately need those other tools.
