Depends a lot.

I know a guy in rl who feels almost no pain, I don't know how you could really model this into an mmorpg but a guy like that would certainly be combat-capable a _LOT_ longer than...

There already are heroes, you get them with (at least) positive luck scales. That's the point (I think) of this thread to begin with that human heroes suck:)

I thought it only is an average weapon with two attacks a roudn and takes two hands? If it gives quickness it's ok after all... at least for the four handed...

I personally think the reward is crap. The weapon that is. I don't want to send any serious champ up there since he'll be cursed with that crappy trident and can't use any decent items afterwards.

It seems winning the arena championships gives exp. If I don't recall wrong my guy jumped from 0 exp stars to 3 stars winning that.

You can get a pretty good idea about that if you feed some sheep to them before the big fight. Although you can't know them exactly, you might now them better than a 'wild guess'.

To me what they're all about is seeing the advantage yourself, not bruteforcing it with a computer. In other words, outwitting your opponent instead of out-tooling him.

Accurate information is good you say? This taken to the extreme -> The game tells you "You will win" or "You will lose", even before you submit your turn (if orders/army compositions don't change)....
