Possible Gold bug

An AI empire sent a colony ship into my minefield. The ship survived, barely, but I also had mines left too. Is this a bug or how it is supposed to work now? Thanks.

I used the default target priorities. Don't have the game up right now and I can't recall the default. However as I said in my Last battle there was only one planet and my ships still moved...
