Re: Do Miss Chances Stack?

No, secondary paths don't count towards fatigue. Or anything else. It's always the primary path.

Re: Illwinter's next project

The headline says, somewhat confusingly
"Conquest of Elysium 3 is in development right now (2012-08-09)."

I take it that's supposed to be 2011, not a hint at a release date or something.

I...

Re: patrolin' dirty

A Conjuration spell that requires 4N, I would assume.

Open up the game, look at the list of spells in the lab under conjuration, filter on Nature (press 'N') and look down the list for something...

Re: Thunderstrike - what am I missing?

If you can pull off a reverse communion then each mage can cast CS,Aim,TStrikex3. They'll fall unconscious after 2 Strikes anyway, so what the AI does when you go off script doesn't really matter....

Re: Why are Tarts so cheap

Now that I like.
GoR is cheap to play around with alternatives, but still available at high cost for Tarts.

This makes Tarts viable even without the Chalice/GoH, since you only have to pay full...

Re: Another one bites the dust

Contingency orders would be a nightmare. Scripting, especially of mages, is already the biggest time suck in the game. This would be a huge multiplier. And you'd have to do it in MP, because you'd...

Re: Traitor in our midst. (strange combat behavior)

I didn't think rage would make you cast on nearby targets, just attack.

Re: Another one bites the dust

Or route them. Fear works well on AI hordes. (Well, except for Late ERmor and a few others.)
Take the provinces around them, they have no where to retreat and poof! no more horde.

Re: rules question: turn resolution

Why?
What does it gain you?

It's potentially thousands* of units that have to be put in a random order. And then you have to iterate over them. Which probably requires a new structure to hold...

Re: Another one bites the dust

Somewhat counter-intuitively a lot of thugs work better against players than against the AI. At least the design philosophy is quite different.

The AI wanders around somewhat aimlessly with large...

Re: A possible explanation for the replay bug

If I followed that link correctly, that isn't the issue. Or at least not the only issue.

The question there is about different results on different architectures or optimization settings. The...

Re: rules question: turn resolution

Yes, you have it exactly right.
All I meant by 'random' is that which order (high-to-low or low-to-high) it goes in is chosen randomly. Or pseudo randomly, if you want to be precise.
Obviously...

Re: rules question: turn resolution

Ritual happen in either id order or reverse id order.

So, you can't tell. It's essentially random.

Re: Newb Impressions

Honestly, for me the micromanagement you refer to: recruiting, shipping new recruits to the front, default orders, etc is swamped by the micromanagement you'd always have to handle personally....

Re: Sieging

It's a known issue. Siege bonus items also don't stack with innate siege bonuses.

It doesn't appear to be in the bug list, for what that's worth.

It might be worth playing around with to see...

Re: Sieging

Yes, you can.
It's a fairly common tactic to storm with a sacrificial commander first to see what the defenses are like.

Re: A Few Questions From a Newb

Almost certainly, if you've scripted it, the AI has decided that the enemy force isn't worth wasting gems on.
Try fighting a bigger army.

If that doesn't work, or if you're already facing a...

Re: new patch announced

Could you explain the correct "ethics"/"etiquette" for this one in SP, please?[/QUOTE]

Correct etiquette: If you mod a change in to help the AI, don't take advantage of it yourself, because that...

Re: An Open Letter to Illwinter Game Design

Was it really intended as part of the balance?
Or was it simply (or mostly) thematic? These nations should like temperature extremes, so they shouldn't be penalized for taking them.

Re: Experience and running away

It wouldn't be enough to get them one star of experience, which is where it would start to matter.
And you do have something better for them to do: patrol and overtax.

Re: Fastest way to move a commander long distance

I believe a rebirthed prophet is no longer your prophet, but retains his holy levels. Who you can then prophetize again to boost his holy level higher. Very situational, but a nice trick

Re: Fastest way to move a commander long distance

But Air boosters are more expensive and harder to get.
OTOH, 1A doesn't get you magic dueled.

So I'd go with whichever you've got more spare gems in, if you have an A4 mage.
Or more likely the...

It's a 50/50 shot for casters (mages scripted to "Cast spells" or for a particular spell.) to cast or attack physically. Even if you've given them 2 shields they'll still have a useless kick or...
