Re: Next Patch Suggestion

The calc for the upgrade path is off big time. Your problem starts when you hold off counting production for the upgrade stage - you're also not counting every other facility already built, it...

Re: research

You get points for each research facility. You then apply the points toward researching a specific tech. So all else being equal, if you had twenty instead of ten, you'd research stuff twice as...

Re: TG contest question

I took a look at it earlier this week and determined it wasn't cost effective for my race. Even a tiny world with (5 Monoliths IIIs) * (the pop bonus of 5% + 20% race bonus + 20% happiness) * 1.3...

Re: Next Patch Suggestion

Good point. I've always taken organic, and I often get temporal too, so my resource need is a little more balanced. Mineral usage is still predominate, just not as much perhaps.

Re: Next Patch Suggestion

I usually just build the most expensive facility I can that only takes one turn. The difference between the individual resource facilities isn't that much, and I try to fill a planet as fast as I...

Re: TG contest question

I just assumed that a loarge number of ppl were not posting their scores so they didn't give a target for others to shoot at. I heard the tournament wasn't getting a lot of hits though, so maybe...

Re: Does anyone know the formula SEIV uses to calculate score?

Yeah, that's what I thought the big bonus was as well, but you and I have made an important and incorrect assumption in that reasoning. We say to ourselves, "Well, that effectively doubles the...

Re: Does anyone know the formula SEIV uses to calculate score?

Hmm, I never bothered trying to build the time shrines, I just figured they wouldn't stack, and were inferior to the sys robot fac. I noticed that gestation vats and medical labs don't add the %, so...

Re: A strat that you may want to consider

I don't really trust the ministers, so I've always done everything by hand. Maybe after the TG contest is over, I'll give them a try.

Re: TG contest question

Good point, Alasyr. I guess there's nothing stopping you from creating your own valid map. I just assumed that you had to generate it during game creation. Boy, that would have saved me so much...

Re: Home Planet in a black hole system

Yeah Geo, you should give it a try. Hey, for a real challenge, only use ancient quadrants for the contest. C'mon, you know you want to. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon12.gif

Re: Up to date beta patch info..

That's the way the system is now though...

If you have a 20% mineral bonus, 20% from happiness, 10% from population, 30% from a planet facility, and 30% from a system facility, you don't get...

Re: Does anyone know the formula SEIV uses to calculate score?

It doesn't stop you. They've said we're to stick to 2000 max combined for bases and ships. If you just use the biggest SB, that'll get you 50M points right there. Everything else should be...
