Re: Problem with ShpEd for terrain tiles

Grant, an easy trick is to simply place a brown dot in the upper left hand corner. I find it easier to paste the new BMPs, which are roughly the same angle and dimension, over the old ones. DO NOT...

Re: Experienced map makers

I always use shortcut keys, whether I'm playing SP or drawing maps, or writing reports, or using Windows. The more hotkeys the better.

I guess 'Leff-tinunt' couldn't be spelled out either :D

Thanks, Cross.

Re: Rapelling - Is It Possible in SP MBT?

Air Assault! I never had the opportunity to go, but I had always heard it involved tying a lot of knots. Which is what my stomach was in every time I rode a Blackhawk or a Chinook.

As Imp said,...

Re: Tanks, Mud, Streams, Mines and Blown Bridges

Moving vehicles into that type of terrain one hex per turn helps. Plenty of overwatch, smoke, and artillery also helps.

Re: Where are the gas artillery rounds?

How about NCOs who made us get into full MOPP gear and then smoked the hell out of us because they thought it was funny? FTA.

Re: Project Winspww1 1914-1918 ?

Richard Hopkins, who oversaw that team, is still on this forum. I was in contact with him a few months back, but he was in the process of moving to another country.

I recently read an article by...

Re: Request for Custom Terrain SHP

Makes sense, given the fact that very few people jack with terrain icons.

Ok. What do you have in mind for that last slot, if you don't mind me asking?

No it isn't. I know firsthand....

Re: Request for Custom Terrain SHP

I meant custom user-end graphics, such as tents, blown-down trees, checkpoints, cows, V-bomb launching sites, etc. I created some tent icons using buildings, but this results in all the protection...

Request for Custom Terrain SHP

Would it be feasible to add a SHP file of blank terrain overlay graphics which could be accessed with a hotkey combination? This would be pure eye candy, with no MP or LOS penalties. It would be an...

Re: Shallow Water Hexes

It's been a while since I tested it, but I seem to remember ships generally get stuck in shallow water hexes. I'll fire those test scenarios up again and give an update.

Re: Shallow Water Hexes

I'm trying to create a large, shallow bay at low tide with numerous cuts and inlets. The scenario I'm setting up will have ships, and I don't want them to be able to get too close to the shoreline. I...

Shallow Water Hexes

Is there any way to make a lot of -1 water hexes at once, or are we restricted to making them one hex at a time?

Re: Ironically hilarious environmentally friendly, comfortable and safe BMP-1

Hey.. it happens!

In 2006, my squad worked an ECP in Baghdad with a battalion of the Georgian Army. They had found an ex-Saddam's army BMP-1, drug it into an overwatch position, cranked the turret...

Re: Ironically hilarious environmentally friendly, comfortable and safe BMP-1

I never thought I'd see the words 'comfortable' and 'BMP' in the same sentence.

And it was WT Sherman that said 'war is hell.' :)

Re: Flag Mod

Not a bug, just missed it in SP-Fix :)

I generally save the existing flags as a bmp, paste the new one, and upload it to SHPED, then in SP-Fix, I don't use the crosshairs at all. Just hit 'Show'...

Re: Wind Direction

I try to keep the direction away from other people, but it really doesn't matter as the area becomes saturated pretty quick. I've been known to cause the cat's hair to fall out.

Re: Question about Corps Expéditionnaire Français en Extrême-Orient, French Indoch

Re: Fighting USA as the Red Army

As a former infantryman myself, I've heard grunts called a lot of things, but never 'dirtleg.' Excuse the vulgarity, but I thought that was a reference to promiscuous women. Were you in the US Army?...
