Re: Japanese Nakajima Ki-43 fighter-bomber in service date

Re: Graf Zeppelin Air Group

Yep have fun with one Aircraft Carrier, although I think the Germans were actually working on two at one stage, and the Italians were also working on one at some point in WWII.

Japanese Nakajima Ki-43 fighter-bomber in service date

Not sure if the dates for this are right in the game?

The Nakajima Ki-43 'Hayabusa' saw action from October 1941 with the Japanese Army Air Force. It had the allied code name 'Oscar' but was...

Re: WW3: Dutch interception

You could make a strong case that Russian military doctrine has not changed all that much in a very long time: Use a lot of men, use relatively simple weapons, but in large numbers. Have as large a...

Re: British Special Forces small arms 2017

I just came across this list, for the SAS only.

Please note it is about three years old:

Re: Leo2A4 destroyed

Killing an MBT, with a modern anti tank missile probably is relatively easy, if the crew are poorly trained or not alert and the tank either lacks supporting troops, or those troops are poorly...

British Special Forces small arms 2017

British Special Forces are: Special Air Service, Special Boat Service (a Royal Marines unit, and more or less the British equivalent of the US Navy SEALS) Special Reconnaissance Regiment (formed in...

Re: Leo2A4 destroyed

Agreed, but it should be very small. Bit like in WWII anti tank rifles could be used to shoot up tank optics. If you were close enough, brave enough, and a good enough shot...

Re: Leo2A4 destroyed

Tanks, and other armoured vehicles actually expected to fight in the front line, need every advantage they can get when faced with modern missiles.

Re: Leo2A4 destroyed

From what I have read and looked at the loss of these tanks looks down to poor tactics and training as much as anything else and, perhaps, command in terms of lack of support troops.

If you put...

Re: SP and SPAA Developments

I very much doubt that even anywhere close to 50% of military 'concepts' ever actually enter service in a recognisable form.

Add to that the huge factor of budget constraints, operational changes...

Re: End date 2030, 100 years...

Early muzzle loading rifles needed some kind of patch to grip the rifling, this made them slow to load. Also early riflemen would often hand measure and load the powder (to aid accuracy) rather than...

Re: British Army L129A1 7.62mm Sharpshooter rifle.

platoon HG = dyslexic for platoon HQ.

Btw, could I suggest that British Special Forces (SAS and SBS) are very unlikely to use the 5.56mm Light Support Weapon. British SF don't make much use of any...

Re: British Army L129A1 7.62mm Sharpshooter rifle.

When I tested it with Mobhack I had section with SA80, Minimi, UGL plus the 7.62mm rifle. Easy enough to add an AT section or two to a company if there is an armoured threat, or pick a platoon HG...

Re: Question about bicycle troops

WWII British Paras were issued some folding bicyles and, from early 1944(?) folding motorcycles. Not that I think they are worth putting in the game.

Thanks. I'm not one of those people who requests orbat game changes because a dozen examples of a .45 pistol were issued in place of a 9mm on one deployment...

Re: British Army L129A1 7.62mm Sharpshooter rifle.

It's not a sniper rifle, its a semi-automatic, 7.62mm battle rifle with optical sights (as pretty much all modern army rifles now have). It is more along the lines of a more accurate, longer ranged ...

British Army L129A1 7.62mm Sharpshooter rifle.

This rifle started being used by British troops in 2011/12 in Afghanistan, mainly because 5.56mm rounds are of very little use at ranges much over 300 yards.

It is issued as a 'marksman's rifle'...

Re: Question about bicycle troops

The Japanese made extensive use of bicycle troops in Malaya early in the war in the far east. On occasion, when ambushed and caught mounted, they got badly shot up, because the one thing you cannot...
