National Service, South Africa, early-mid 1970s. Ran war aid into Rhodesia and was in several minor infantry dust-ups. Later was on the border between SWA and Zambia. Missed the big flare-ups of...

What was the Fix Dates command

Looking over an old copy of Mobhack, I saw a command Fix Dates >50. It's no longer there and I just wonder what it was. I don't recall ever using it.

Dankie,

Re: Question Re Red, Blue and Green OOBs

I once tried to make a Turkish orbat. I found lots of references to the 1930s and 40s, but they were all in Turkish, which I don't read. There's lots in English on the Ottoman army, but that's too...

Re: Firing Ports

Firing ports would have to be disabled automatically when the troopies leave the vehicle, after all, there's no one to fire out of them.

Andy is right about the effect of firing through ports. ...

Re: Battle lengths: MBT versus real life

Modern combat goes in fits and starts. It is entirely possible to spend an entire battle doing nothing, because there is no action in your area and command doesn't dare move you.

ALL armies are...

Re: Infantry vs Artillery

Artillerymen receive the basic rifle training all soldiers receive. But they are NOT infantrymen. They will die or gap it if engaged by actual infantry. Also they generally do not have rifles...

From my experience (in training only) calling in real fire missions (mortars only), the delay is because the smoke rounds are kept in a different stack. They have to put the HE rounds away and get...
