Re: Missing map editor key

That's weird.

Here's what I get. "Map gen" fourth from bottom. I have the CD version CamoMapEdit.exe, running on Windows 7.

Re: Thanks for the update

Thanks for the thanks, Mike. Suhiir is right; if the ammo shortages really bothered me I could set up a separate OOB for the AI which gave them 999 shells per artillery tube and four tubes per unit....

Re: Thanks for the update

You're right, buying a full force of snipers and ATGMs would be no different. I'll also give you that I exaggerated in my first post. I set my entire force to autodeploy/AI control and laid back...

Thanks for the update

I've been away for a while, but a few minutes with the 6.0 patch feels like a whole new game. The AI's IQ went up two standard deviations, while the OOBs have really been redone. Just wanted to say...

Re: A couple of newbie questions

1) Get your INFANTRY unit (vehicles can't assault) adjacent or in the same hex as the enemy VEHICLE (dosen't work on infantry). Then just fire at the vehicle. If your unit's morale is decent and it...

Should there be a technical FAQ?

DRG and Andy often talk about how people should look around the board first before asking for help on their bugs. IMO it'd be easier if we started a technical FAQ with all the common questions,...

Re: scenario editor : trains and destroyed tanks ?

The game does not take 0 point units- if you set the cost to 0, the game will ignore it and keep the cost as it is. The minimum cost that it accepts is 1.

Re: Slovak Mobile Brigade Campaign

Interesting. Good detail on the battle. There was nothing you could have done about those flanks, your force was far too small to spread out and cover them. My only suggestion would be to have...

Re: Infantry Casualties at 50m

The most effective tactics here in real life are small teams of infiltrators. In WinSPMBT your scout units, having only around 4 men, are hard to spot and will often be able to sneak adjacent to an...

Re: Looking for Arab-Israeli campaigns

I did a search of the forum and couldn't find anything. There is one campaign included in the game (Thunder in the Sinai, lead the Egyptians in 1973 across the Suez) that you probably already know...

Re: Official Scenario & Campaign Editing Tips Thre

At the SZO forums, someone came up with a creative way to create aircraft revetments and destroy units at a certain turn. The destroy units idea would be helpful if, say, you are simulating a Special...

Re: Official Scenario & Campaign Editing Tips Thre

Another note, this time about reinforcements. If you set a unit as a reinforcement in, say, hex (1,1), it will STILL appear during actual gameplay at hex (1,1) even if you move it to, say, hex (2,2)...

Re: Campaign questionnaire

The reason why most scenarios meant to be played against the computer involve the player being the attacker is probably because the AI does better on defense. Defense has more to do with positioning...

Re: Airpower and helicopter question

I don't know, but it might be something you are doing that is discouraging the enemy from using their airplanes. Do you usually buy tons of air defence that scares the enemy away? Or do you just move...

Re: OT- Recoiless Rifle

The F-22 Raptor issue is more of a warfighting philosophy question than a performance one. To America, saving soldier's lives is the most important part of fighting a war. The fact is, equipping your...

Re: Airpower and helicopter question

In the old Steel Panthers, the ammount of air sorties each side got was determined by an "air superiority" calculation. Certain countries, like Israel, had high air superiority ratings, and so almost...

Black Hawk Down by Mark Bowden :p

Also, has anyone read Thunder Run? It's a very interesting Black Hawk Down-style story of the American tank assault into Baghdad. If you ever want to make a...

Re: The current Bolivian Political Situation

I like third-world campaigns. They have a lot more low-quality armor (which is more interesting to play with than first-world Abrams and Leopard 2 style "death ray" tanks with perfect accuracy and...

Re: Moral Issues

It is kind of ridiculous, though, that an enemy will keep fighting after 90% losses. Any unit that has been cut down from, say, 9 to 2 men should be permanently routed.

And it seems like you...

Note about mission briefings

A kind of important note about writing mission/campaign briefings. Do not write "..." in the briefing, because the game considers this a "next line" command that moves...

Re: AT Teams Are Slaughterig Me -- HELP!!!

Krotos, don't be afraid of asking questions. The whole point of this forum is to disucuss the game, and that's what we all enjoy doing.

I "perfected" a way to defeat enemy ATGM and RPG teams...

Re: Best way to use airmobile and panzergrenadiers

It does seem to me that ATGM teams have a higher profile and are more prone to getting shot at. But if you want a survivable tank killer, buy a normal infantry team. RPG and like kinds of weapons...

Re: New Campaign! - UNIFE 2013

MacGal has changed some of the heavier weapons, like Spike ATGMs and MBT ammo loadouts, intentionally. This is to make the game more of a challenge. We've talked about this, and he said that a force...

Re: \"Arming Phasser Kapytin!\"

I remember that the Soviets had a similar idea. I have a book about Soviet Medium Tank 1989 (not the T-72 modification, another SMT 1989). Supposedly, the Russians were working on a magnetic field...
