Sounds good. I'm in 2 games (one admin'd by me and the other by someone else). One game started with 8 empires but has had several drops and many "time-out" executions. Sounds like you got a bit lucky.
The one I admin has 4 players (now) and it's taken about 3 weeks to get up to turn 27 (or so...I can't remember it's been so long  )
