I think monsters were cut due to time and budget constraints, mainly. Remember they had a working game Last year but play testers said it was not 'fun' at all. So they re-worked it to get where they are now. And most of the people trying to play
this one say it's not 'fun' either!
I wouldn't completely give up just yet, though. As with all other major software packages, it will take a 'public beta' cycle to get things nailed down. Next fall will be a good time to look at MOO 3 again.
