not to put words in anyone's mouth, but I would venture to guess "lack of time and/or interest"
I have put together code for several things that I dont actively use, just because I thought the project / idea / other people working on it was worthy. Its always a bonus when the community that will be using the app is cool too.
my two bits anyway.
