Yes, you can install many more Components on Transports for AIC versus Original se4:
~Supply Storage levels 1-5 = Supply Ships
~Mine Sweeper Component 1-5 = MTs are great Sweepers
~Robo Mining: Minerals and Rads = Mining Barge
~Cobalt Warhead for some awesome fire ships
~Almost all Stellar Manipulation Devises = Science Vessels
~Space Ship Yard Component = Great SYS Platform
~Repair Bay Components = Very good repair Platform
And a few more...

All can be loaded on a Small, Medium, and Large Transport Hulls.
Transports are a good and a low cost to maintain vehicle,
and will find that
