Whatever it mutates into, I would like it to be easily updatable. New info and discussions happen constantly and updates can be frequent. As an old timer, I kinda like the idea of a FAQ in a text file, but I guess I need to keep up with the times.

There's nothing saying you couldn't have both.
With the FAQ being a text file it would be easy to make it into a HTML file. It'd take a couple hours to set up all the links and so forth to begin with. But once that is done it would only take but a few minutes to update certain sections.
