Load mines at planet X
Launch mines at warp Y
repeat

Many turns later, I realized that planet X was not the planet making mines.

Many turns later, when I checked the wp and no mines were there, I realized that the mine layer ship was full of cargo bays, not mine laying components. Back to shipyard, dump mines cause planet could not carry them all, retro to NEW BETTER design and start again, only to have fleet come through unprotected wp and glass the freshly retro'ed mine layer.
