If your playing the ai, did you make sure that the ai was turned on for each ai player?, when your game screen comes on, clik on the menu button upper left, pick players, see if all players are chked off, if not then they are set for human player and you will have to go into each one and ck them as comp player.

or

if you have more then one game saved and you picked the wrong game in beginning this would happen. example

your playing say TDM or Proportions and you cliked on SE4 straight, you will see your save games but when you clik on the one you want it might not resemble the one you were playing so make sure you picked the right game setup in beginning then your saved game.
