The new species had initiated contact once again.
This time their words and thoughts carried even more foreign ideas for the Firsts to consider.

They seemed to desire an establishment of regular trading of materials. This seemed a very strange idea to several of the Firsts that it would affect. Would not all materials be distributed as would best serve the needs of the Alteri?
This lead to many arguments among the Firsts. Some believed the idea was simply to merge the aliens own material shifting networks with the Alteri's and thus unify the two. The thinkers of these thoughts were quickly corrected by First Speaker. The Rorg had no such desire. Their intentions as best could be understood where to aid themselves and avoid "war" with the unknown quantity that they considered the Alteri. Few of the other firsts could understand this. It was the First Speakers and his peoples area to understand and communicate with this alien life form. As such it was decided to leave the dealing of these things to him and his. First Speaker could handle all issues pertaining to matters of new life forms.

They had another matter of great import to consider.

The Alteri where changing. Not yet all of them but enough to still be noticed. They were physically the same. But these few were now able to project their minds with greater strength than before. A few could move small objects with them. Others seemed to be developing a greater understanding to the Alteri memories and connection, while yet others had gained greater perception abilities and could now see farther around themselves than any other Alteri had ever done before and a very few seemed to be gaining a stronger link to the thoughts of the new species. It was decided to monitor this closely and see if such changes could be harnessed for greater betterment. A few proposed new Firsts were in order once again. The majority felt that at present there was no need to go so far as the abilities were not strong enough to warrant that, but perhaps in the future they would.

As the other Firsts considered these new possibilities the First Speaker dealt with the aliens. He was unsure of these Rorg. Yet to engage in these ideas of "trade" and "exchange" might strengthen the Alteri as a whole. First Speaker decided to accept the Rorg proposal, for now at least. It might be an excellent way to gain closer access to alien thoughts and gain a better understanding of them without being bombarded by the minds of millions if those allowed to trade were sufficiently limited in number and scope. The issue was decided.

Special Notes:
The Alteri story will likely be lacking in dialogue quite abit. I at first thought to go that route but have since decided that that doesn't really fit in with the Alteri method of communication. The Alteri don't speak to each other. They instead put forth their views and thoughts on an issue. All interested review them and other points of view put forward and then a majority vote of interested parties decides the issue. Once an issue is settled it is settled and disputes won't arise over actions.

This is not really something that can be portrayed in dialogue.

Also of note is the dropping of the Zyx and just referring to him as First Speaker. First Speaker and all First titles are honorifics that are bestowed only once upon any Alteri. If any First should ever die then there would never again be a first for that area and thus that area of expertise would cease to exist in Alteri society. No Firsts have ever died.

Maybe I should post the race desc stuff here for a better understanding of the Alteri? Anyone want to see that?
