There are races that get angry about your colonies that could be also colonized by them!
The more colonies they see, the more they get angry. If they acquire suddenly the full view of your empire by a treaty (which is not necessarily a treaty with you but can be with a third empire), they may turn hostile very quickly and break the treaty with you.
