Well, if you get too frustrated, you can use the old "cheat save" tactic - copy all the data files (or fiugre out the ones that change after execution and just save those), and put them pack when you die - poof, back to the point where you copied off! I did that in a few old games after I lost several weeks of progress to a stupid mistake . . . Once i beat Wiz8 though I plan to play it through on Ironman mode, which doesn't allow saves (well, one for when you exit, but it removes it once you start playing. I will make a backup if i can, but only for cases of computer crash, etc).
Sometimes the fates are against you, though. I had a game called Starflight for which i always kept several saves on disk, yet one day, my save was corrupt. No problem, i used the backup. nope, corrupt too! so i go back through all of my backups of previous days. nope, all corrupt! magic, poof, all gone. ( i think now that the program had gotten corrupted and that it destroyed the files upon opening them. Problem is, i opened every copy i had and didn't make new ones first. ) Probably lost well over a hundred hours. Obviously, it took less time to get back to that point, since i had my old notes, but still, its the principle of the thing . . . that hurt!
