Actually, elsewhere in the forum the thread was that the little sphere/ring graphic was just a icon for your emperor's Galactic Display (TM) screen. The real thing is much bigger.

I was disappointed with the sphere world I built -- I was expecting a gigantic graphic like the black hole swirl.

I tried resizing the graphic to double size just to see what would happen. But I resized the wrong one and only 1/4 of the graphic appears on the right hand display when I select the sphere (which is kool I guess, it gives the impression that it's huge)

As for the physics of planet surival, that's easy. They're inside, orbiting, just as if nothing happened. What's that you say. Another race on one of those planets wants out? Well then, they can build ships and fight past my sphere's weapon platforms. I'd love to see that in tactical combat -- instead of the space background, a panoramic view of the planet surface.

Oh well, for SEIX I guess.
