As far as Jack is concerned, gold is little more than worthless ash, and he will treat it as such.  Sure, it's pretty and lends itself well to jewelry (holding a harnessed uncertainty jewel on a finger, for example), but beyond that he's just going to bury it as garbage when he's done burning the lead.
Besides, it was an alchemist that discovered the process, and that was the touted goal of alchemy way back when it first started. Of course, after the process was discovered on Jack's world, the goal became turning gold into lead, as that was the new currency metal....
