There is a challenge thread Here.
You can see what is available or post a game setting you would like. That would even include finite resources (though I'm not sure how popular that is...I've played it on occasion). I think you'll find new players are welcomed and there is usually someone pretty quickly reponding to a challenge if the settings look good to them and if they have a "game slot" available  .
