Re: File uploading is broken !
That was a poor attempt at humor... though I do accept your apology for it.
You completley mischaracterize my actions and then want me to not post anything in my defense? That isn't going to happen. First off, making a suggestion to Richard (even if it has been rejected before months ago) is not harrassment or badgering, it is making a suggestion. Harrassment would involve doing this repeatedly over an extended period of time, which I have not done. I have only made a few suggestions at distant intervals. This would be at most the 3rd time I have suggested this, which in no way constitutes "making the same suggestions over and over." A lot can change over a period of months. Also, I did not make the same suggestion this time. I made no mention of phpBB, just an inquiry as to the possibility of going with a better forum software than UBB. Richard brought up phpBB specifically.
Secondly, this is not harrassment, it is trying to discuss the issue. I was merely asking what his objections to phpBB were, and probably would have gotten an answer, had you not decided to go off the deep end. If his objections were sound, there would have been nothing further to discuss. The only objection he gave in the past was about phpBB being a resource hog compared to UBB, which is not actually true. I have discussed such things with a number of knowledgeable people since then. It may use more resources than UBB, but it is certainly not a "hog." Well, there was one more objection, and that was about all the hacks of the UBB he had done. But, nearly all of them are standard features in at least 75% of the forum software out there, phpBB being no exception. I am sure Richard knows this.
Also, it has not been my experience that Richard is adamantly stubborn about things he has made up his mind about and unwilling to change his mind. Quite the contrary, in fact.
If you do not want to read any discussions on this, don't read them. This was a perfectly civil and legitimate discussion.
