I miss Armored Core, the original on playstation. A bunch of us would sit around the tube trying to blow the bejeezus out of each other. Constantly trying to re-engineer the mech to better be able to dodge missiles or to be able to squeeze on two grenade launchers at the same time without slowing to a crawl.
Some of the most fun games were the ones with self-imposed limitations like the melee games, or the all rocket games (few things were more satisfying than pasting a buddy in the mellon from across the map with an unguided rocket and claiming that it was due purely to skill

).
The gasps of astonishment and sheer joy of dodging to the edge of the bLast radius of a grenade launcher, taking a mere ten damage of what would have otherwise been an armor shredding death to my stripped down chassis with a laser strapped to the arm.
Ahh... but I ramble.
I miss the laughter, the competition, the sharpening of our collective reflexes. Ahh, the joy.
