- Equals Happier
Other equals Sadness
Note winning Battles, and capture Planets give happiness.
Agreements and loosing battles give sadness.
As SJ says, 3 Troops (-6) will equal 1 Ship (-5 & -1=-6) in orbit over that Planet. But if planet is angry it may be best to send a few ships post haste that are close by into orbit, before the Planets riots and then the final rebellion
It also may be recommended to build about 10 inexpensive Troops (Militia only) as your first new Colony build as to maintain Military Order on the Planet; if you are failing in your Happiness objectives

- Riot prevents any point generation from that planet.
- If a planet riots for sufficient time, it may rebel.
- Rebellion changes the planet to a new owner.
