You have me confused. You appear to be arguing both sides...

You missed, or chose to ignore, my point, which was that most of todays profitabiltiy from sports, and thus what is shown on TV which is understandably entirely profit-orientated, is driven from the views of the wage-earners of todays society, 25-60 or whatever. This in turn is driven by what they leaned to appreciate as kids. I believe that the kids of today will be hooked on soccer when they are in that age-group, becuase that is what they are appreciating today, as kids. Like it or not, todays kids are tomorrows spenders.
Also, you kinda make my point in one way. Who ever thought 30 years ago that golf would be so huge ?

No, I read your statement for what was written. I was asking for you to qualify your statement.
As to golf, there are quite a few very wealthy developers that had it pegged. IMHO, golf fits the athletic ability and social tastes of a large portion of the population. It is also a game where training and practice are almost as important as physical ability. So Joe Needstodroptwentypounds Blow can be quite good at golf with enough practice. Not to mention that it is one of the few sports where a few bucks can get you in a game with a real pro. And for us non-hitters, we can drive the new Caddies and rub elbows for free.
