You cannot "protect" your daughter from the outside world till she dies of old age . She already has contact to it without your supervision (school, friends) and you probably do not worry about it that much. So - what exactly are you worried about that she might see or read what you do not wish in the internet? Yes, I know the american point of view that it is perfectly safe to let children play with guns but that the sight of a naked breast will ruin their whole life, but this should be less of an issue with a daughter
I would be more worried about restricting the time spent on the internet, we all know how addictive things like gaming, chatting, etc. can be... and it is even easier for a child to loose the real-world contact that way.
If there are specific things on the internet that you do not like or fear, maybe try just telling her what you would not like, and show her what not to do and why and where dangers are. Most important in my opionis is, though, to be available for her if she want to talk about something. Ruatha's "post-police" idea is good, especially in the beginning, but I think, at some point, there should be trust and respect of her privacy.
