I've always encouraged people to join regardless of how good they are. I think over time that everyone gets better and besides getting better and winning more games, there's nothing like seeing your rating rise as proof.
May I suggest contacting a guy who joined recently named Fire. He isn't an extroaordinary player...seems like you 2 would have a good game.
