Not to mention the RIAA putting "spin" (pardon the pun) on their actions by saying it was taking money out of artists pockets.
I read a detailed report several months back talking about how much an artist got per album sold (the average artist, not the "blockbusters") and it was pathetic AND money was subtracted from THAT for the recording company's expenses. So, most of the average bands have to tour to make money. What they get from the RIAA is insulting.
Now, having said this, I don't use my hatred for the RIAA to ease my conscience and thus download music. I don't believe in taking things that aren't yours...whether the artists suffer or not. In fact, I'll be giving my wife a subscription to a legal download as one of her Christmas presents. The one by MusicMatch, I think.
But it doesn't stop me from hating the a$$holes!
