It has been written about in many books, and they all paint a very depressing picture for the future of this country and indeed the planet over the next 200 years. But your right Narf, interal vigilance is our only salvation. As long as we have hope we have something.

Keep in mind that the US alone could currently feed the entire population of the world continuously several times over, with only a portion of the arable land in the nation. This is not done, of course, because there is no profit in feeding people that have no money.

Now, grow food in other places in the world, and it would be possible to feed trillions of people. Modern farming techniques can grow huge amounts of food on small plots of land.
