Re: X2 the Threat doesn\'t trust you
yes, i am immature and calling you names. it is very low of me, and i am a very small person for doing it. I appologize for my poor behavior, and I would like to publicly acknowledge that I am most likely the least civilized person on this wonderful forum (no sarcasim! this is the best forum on the net!), and I am ashamed to sully it with my presence. Whatever the harsh form of your original post was, I am sure that I deserve it. I am a poor excuse for a human being,
That said, let me be perfectly pointed: i find your lack of resourcefullness apauling. i believe that you are simply looking for something to be upset about, because it generates a sense of purpose. it is a common passtime that i have observed many people engaging in, and it gives me generally unclean feelings about our species.
you dont have to just lurk in the general forum, you can ask questions there. you can talk to people about what the bugs are, and you can have your concerns directly addressed. No, I have not spent alot of time reading their forums or posting in them. Maybe the game sucks. I would LIKE to think that its a good game, I WANT it to be a good game, but maybe its not. I cant say.
but I CAN say that there seems to be alot of blind finger-pointing going on. I read around a bit, and it seems like you did post the same complaint over there, but I cant find where you actually asked anyone in the general forum about the game or about its bugs. I CAN find threads from other posters which talk about graphics performance, throttle controll problems, and a general happyness with the 1.1 patch. I can even find the 1.1 patch history, which outlines the bugs which were fixed.
This does not mean its a good or bad game, it just means that you're not very resorcefull, and will resort to complaining and fearmongering at the drop of a hat.
With regards to Malfador, SE4, and Shrapnel, their ongoing support has been superb. But there was never access to the beta thread which had discussion of the upcomming patches. Through the first year of the game, it was unforgiveably buggy and some people felt that it simply did not work as advertized. This very forum was full of people whom have long since abandoned the game. We all stuck through it because we loved the genre, and were fairly confident that MM would fix the problems given time. Perhaps egosoft's support forum is not quite the same as our beta forum, but the principal is the same: It might be worth giving them the same benefit of the doubt that we give MM, as their hard-core followers from X and Xtension seem to be very similar to the followers from SE1 thru SE3.
But regardless of all of that nonesense, it really comes down to two simple things. First, if you really want to know about the game, there are some fairly easy ways to gain that knowledge. Second, if you simply disagree with their choice to close their support forum, and the rest is just a shallow arguement to support that objection, you should probably send your complaints to their developers. Their dev team has already posted their reasons for closing it, and it looks like the forum posters are 50/50 for or against that decision.
Maybe if you pointed out how much bad press it is generating for them, they would be willing to post a bug list or some sumarized Version of events on that forum, if not make it read-only.
in short, airing your complaints here is a shallow act of retribution for an action that you dont personally agree with. and its embarassing to see.
Before you add reinforcing arguements to your complaint, you should know that I dont agree with their decision either. It seems pretty stupid, and is getting them alot of bad press. like this. But if I REALLY wanted to know about the game, I know where I could go to ask. And if I was irriatated enough to raise a stink about how bad I thought their decision was, I probably would find a way to do it that didnt slander their company or their product. Im not saying that you should take a dive so that more Elite-like games might be published, im just suggesting that maybe this isnt the best place to air the laundry.
