Never say never, it's a 'known bug' so it should eventually get fixed. And I can only confirm that in XP Home edition this bug is present. When the system sees that more than 512meg is needed, it automatically creats a swap file and uses that. It's like the system says "If Ram_needed > 512 then use_swap_file" it should say "If Ram_needed > available_ram then use_swap_file".
I think the main reason that it has not been fixed yet is that not many apps make good use of extra memory anyway. and the new games are getting around this by stuffing the video card's memory instead of system RAM for alot of their graphics. CHeck out some of the new bleeding edge games, they have system requirements like 512meg AND a 128meg graphics card. There' is a reason for this.
