They are great, My brother has an 80gig external USB HD that he uses for backups. Actually it's one of those universal USB caddy units that can hold any standard PC IDE unit like a HD, ZipDrive, Floppy, even a removable HD unit. ..and they are portable enough to take with you anywhere. Now that is a very good thing. The only downside is that the transfer rate is something like 128kb/sec (aka 10 megabits per second) but for backup, that's not too bad.
