I really don't see that happening either. You have to keep in mind that these movies have to generate revenue from more than star trek fans
even then, as a ST fan, I don't like the "TOS" era (yes, i know it reads the The...).
As for a new series... I wouldn't mind seeing something more modern, post-Voyager or even post-Nemesis. It would be nice if they were able to mesh in stories from the previous 3 series (TNG, DS9 and VOY) as well as previous locations, events and people (as guest appearances). I'm sure there's a lot more that'll be happening now that the borg are gone, the dominion are not a big threat, and the federation *does* have technology from the future...
