Re: Trade?
AI Diplomacy in SEIV is one of the worst I've ever seen - probably because it's so complex?
The ANGER-engine is primitive, and so the AI races are primitive.
If a big nice guy enters the room you don't melest him because he is big - but if the big guy is violent and ruthless you might want to act in self-defence.
Try to tell that to one of the races in SEIV.
When the AI attacks one of my ships and wins his anger level goes up - (???) - shouldn't he be happy and so the anger go down?
I haven't actually tried to alter the anger.txt file myself since I'm so ...careful.
I've been playing hardest level with full AI bonus, a few times - but it isn't hard enough - MEANING - the computer might be violent and ruthless, but he doesn't know when to BACK OFF - which a human does.
So in the "end" (haven't quite finished any game yet) I'm still standing strong and the other five-six remaning empires are scattered around the quadrant, waiting for my troop-transport to land.
Now and then I send them a message, asking if they'd like peace, for a change. But Nooooo... they'd rather just sit there and wait for death while there are at least 30% uncolonized planets left.
As long as you are ahead in research the computer can't stand a chance no matter what bonuses they have.
But still, it's a great game - especially when playing against human opponents.
